About the Event
This course covers vital topics such as hazard recognition,assessment and tools for recognizing hazards during disaster situations such as floods, earthquakes, wildland fires and others. In depth discussion on natural/propane gas, power line safety and other hot topics. The second part of the course you will be introduced to & gain knowledge of the basic incident management organzation, general wildland safety and the basics of fire behavior. Review & discuss current issues/concerns in the wildland, risk management and entrapment avoidance. Review forecasts and assessments for the upcoming fire season. This course meets NWCG (National Wildfire Coordinating Group) PMS 310-1 and WFSTAR RT130 guidelines. A seperate skills day will need to be performed if wishing to receive fire shelter certification. You must check with your organization for acceptance of the course to comply with your agencies guidelines. This course is required by Sonoma County to become an Animal Disaster Service Worker.
